Dearest little bean,
I meant to write a note last week, but, as usual, time got away from me in this busy, busy time leading up to your birth! Lots of prep going on at home and at work. I’m feeling overwhelmed sometimes, but I know it’s all worth it in the end.
Your Grandma Simon and Aunt Trista threw a sweet little baby shower for you on the 27th of July. Your Grandma Moats and Aunt Julie were there too, along with lots of aunts, cousins and friends. Mama got a little emotional about all the love everyone is so willing to bestow upon you. You are cherished already, by so many. Your daddy’s family, or families, are all so generous and accepting and you are so beyond lucky, as are we.
You got lots of fun things, which are more fun for me right now, because I’m sure you really don’t care, at the moment, about tiny socks with owls on them or polka dot onesies, but it’s fun, I tell you! And mama got to eat cake, cookies AND chocolate-covered pretzels, so she was pretty happy. We played fun games, and got lots of pics so you can see them someday. Your sweet cousin Wade even drew a picture of you inside my belly that I just adore. I made sure to save it.
Mid-week was crazy. I had TWO dr appointments last week and was able to find us a new family doctor (FINALLY!) and the ob appointment went well, as usual. For the first time since being pregnant, mama had lots of questions. Usually there’s not much to say, since you and I have been doing so well, but now that I know my body is getting ready for you, I have lots of questions.
Dad and I had a laid back weekend, kind of…it was the first weekend in quite awhile that we didn’t go out of town. On Saturday, I got most of the fabric for your room cut and assembled. Then we went to see a movie, out to dinner and out with some friends later to celebrate one of their birthdays. Mama had a rough day, lots of Braxton Hicks contractions and lots of little pains, but nothing too concerning.
Sunday was spent sewing and washing all of your tiny clothes. You have WAY too many! Be prepared for lots of dress-up, because I’m determined to put all of them on you. It was a tiring day, and I was still having a few contractions. SO tiring that I just had to take a nap! I don’t do that very often. Aunt Trista and Troy stopped by also to help get your dresser upstairs. Now I can start putting things away!

We are getting so excited to finally meet you. And mama can’t wait to see if you have hair!
love you so very much, tiny girl.
