My usual weekly update will be posted tomorrow. I’ve been plagued with some nerve and hip pain for almost a week now, which I’ve read is a normal pregnancy issue. One that’s not very fun, mind you. I have a third trimester waddle at 23 weeks because of the way I have to walk right now. It’s a sight to see. I saw a chiropractor last night, which has helped a bit. It’s not an overnight fix, and I’ll be back in there Monday. But I really was in no mood after that to spend time drawing out my chalkboard. Mama needed a rest.
So today I bring you the story of a dresser.
Even before ever getting pregnant, I loved repurposed dressers used for changing stations. So once I found out I was pregnant, my hunt began. Being that we’re on a budget, a very tight budget, I knew I’d want to DIY whatever dresser we found. I did fall in love with a few new and modern dressers, but the price tags were just way too high to justify. So I’ve been scouring craigslist and ebay, and employed a friend to hunt garage sales for me. Nothing was turning up. Turns out, people can charge a fortune for dressers and still sell them…just not to me, the girl with the tight budget.
Until Sunday…I saw this little gem on craigslist for the bargain price of $30. It has some cheesy pine cone/branch design carved into it, but it actually fits our woodland/nature/bird theme (says the girl who swore she wouldn’t have a theme). And I fell in love with it and saw major possibilities.

So I texted her right away, and wouldn’t you know it…SOLD! But at $30, it figures. So I was bummed about it and dropped my search efforts for the day.
On Monday, I had a missed call from that same number, but no voicemail. I figured maybe she accidentally dialed it, since my luck is usually not the best and there was no way it was available again. But alas, I called it back and she let me know that they never came to pick it up! And it was mine if I wanted it! I was so excited. James and I headed right over to pick it up. It’s not perfect, and needs a little love, but it has awesome potential!
So now the creative planning begins..what color(s)…hardware…etc…I over-think everything, especially when it comes to creative projects. I picked up paint samples, in varying shades of orange and rust. I’m thinking orange is likely the winner, with some fun knobs. Although, I have seen some awesome metallic dressers lately that are pretty awesome as well… I’m really excited about it. Baby girl has a dresser for her nest to hold ALL THE CUTE THINGS!
I’ve been browsing pinterest all along as well, and here’s some looks I love (sadly, with no credits, since I’ve just been saving the images. But they were all via Pinterest):
Love the bright color!
I love the hand-painted pattern, which was done with metallic paint pen.
Bright color again, and I love the wall arrangement.
White hardware really adds a cute touch. And this would mean I could re-use the existing hardware.
And tri-colored drawers! SWOON! And that deer, oh how I need it.
Where did you find inspiration for your little one’s nursery? If you have a post where you shared the final result, leave me a link in the comments. I’d love to see!
