Dearest little bean,
We had quite the busy weekend! And you’ve been busy kicking up a storm! It’s been nonstop since Friday. Your aunt Trista and cousin Audrey were able to feel your dancing feet too.
We spent the weekend up north at Grandma and Grandpa Simon’s house, which is the usual for Memorial Day Weekend. Your uncle Jesse and aunt Julie were there also, along with your new tiny bean of a cousin…because…yes…they are expecting also! I’ve known for a couple of weeks, but wanted to make sure I didn’t spill the beans too early. I’m so excited about your new baby cousin and I just know you two will be great friends!
We spent a lot of time outside, had a bonfire, ate s’mores (mama was happy about that!), went to a birthday party for a friend’s son and spent yesterday downtown for a bit at the Memorial Day services to remember those who serve our country and keep our country free. They had veterans of various wars raise the flags and you could just see the pride they have for their country. We can definitely learn from them. I like to complain about the government sometimes, but these types of days remind me of how lucky I am to be an American and how proud I am to teach you all about our flag and what it stands for.
We also spent lots of time with aunt Trista’s new boyfriend, Troy (or Detroy as your cousin Ayden likes to say, like Detroit), and we all loved him. He is such a nice guy and we managed to not scare him off!
Mama also had a very air-headed moment wherein she was sure she broke her nose into a thousand tiny pieces. She walked right into a partially open garage door with sunglasses, full force…I saw stars, eyes filled with tears, and my nose is still sore. All because I wanted a Coke out of the fridge in the garage. I think it was the universe telling me to lay off the caffeine (I’m sure someone out there is calling the pregnancy police as we speak). Your cousin Ayden was upset because he thought it was his fault since he opened the garage and couldn’t push it up all the way. But I reassured him that it’s just because his aunt is an idiot and doesn’t watch where she’s walking. Then your dad ran into a tree with his face while canoeing and Ayden biffed it on a curb and ended up with bandages on multiple limbs. It was an eventful weekend.
Mama is tired. She stayed up way too late for too many nights in a row, and your making it more and more difficult to focus on sleep since your favorite dancing hours are late at night.
Our tiny dancer, and we just love it.
