Dearest little bean,
You’re 8 months old! EIGHT WHOLE MONTHS!
You are the most precious and happy baby. You’ve been doing pretty well since mama’s dietary adjustments and are still primarily on breast milk but we supplement with a rice milk formula that mama makes from scratch. Only the best for you! Mama misses cheese a lot, but she knows she’s helping you be healthy. I still make all of your food from scratch and you’ve developed a great love for potatoes!! But you’re really excited when you get your fruit! I think mama’s sweet tooth during pregnancy transferred over to you. We’ve been giving you finger foods, but you’re still not quite ready to put food in your own mouth yet, but you love playing and exploring with the bits on your tray.
We celebrated your first Easter last month and you loved the Easter grass in your basket! You also thought sitting on the Easter bunny’s lap was pretty hilarious. I’m trying to prepare myself for next year when you’ll likely be afraid of him…but you could surprise us and still love him! We spent Easter with Grandma and Grandpa Simon up in northern Michigan. We also celebrated cousin Audrey’s birthday, like we do every year, since it’s usually pretty close to Easter. We had dinner and ice cream cake (except for mama) at Aunt Trista’s house and Audrey loved her Hello Kitty goodies we picked out for her!
You’re sleeping in your crib these days…well, most of the time. There’s some nights mama still puts you in the cradle next to her because some days have her worried about your breathing/allergy issues. You sleep great in the crib, and sometimes mama falls asleep in the bed in your room, which is probably a pretty bad habit, but oh well…I just like to make sure you’re sleeping soundly and in the process I fall asleep myself!
You’re still the tiniest tot, weighing somewhere between 15 and 16 pounds and still mostly in 3/6 month size clothes, but slowly filling out those 6 month outfits.
You’re favorite sound right now is “amamamamamama,” which sounds like mama, but we’re unsure whether or not it’s directed at me, though sometimes it sure seems to be! I won’t call it your first word yet, but you’re definitely picking up on the sounds we make to you. You also love making what we call your “zombie” sounds.
You still aren’t crawling, which isn’t a problem since you’re still pretty young, but you could definitely do it if you really wanted to. You’re so content to just sit on your little blanket with your toys. You reach as hard and far as you can to avoid actually moving your entire body to the item you want, only to give up and play with what’s closest to you. You also LOVE standing and are pulling yourself up on stuff, when your tiny bod can reach it. Furniture is still a little too tall for you!
We fall in love with you more and more each day!
