Dearest little bean,
You’re 4 months old as of January 7…for some reason, 4 months feels really grown up, you know, in a grown-up-baby kind of way….
You’re becoming quite the little personality! You are so funny and keep us laughing. You’re very vocal these days, laughing and yelling! Not yelling in a bad way, but you have these big sounds that are so adorable and are big “oooohs” and “ahhhhhs”! You just get so excited about life! You still aren’t very fussy, except for hungry and tired…otherwise, you’re happy as a lark! Changing your diaper is always funny time. You just think your mama is hilarious!
You were supposed to have a check-up this month, and shots (sad mama), but we had a BIG snowstorm and your appointment got rescheduled, so we aren’t sure exactly how much you weigh, but according to our home scale, you’re around 12-13 lbs. Still a peanut, but growing, growing, growing! You’re (mostly) out of newborn clothes. There’s a few items still floating around, but you wear a lot of 0-3 and some 3 month now. Mama just absolutely loves dressing you!
Your 4th month was so fun with lots of Christmas celebrations! Dad and I enjoyed being out and about with you Christmas shopping…your first Christmas was so much fun, granted, you weren’t too into things, but you were a happy girl on Christmas and enjoyed watching everything going on. We spent Christmas Eve and day at home. We put out cookies for Santa and read The Night Before Christmas after putting on our Christmas Eve pj’s from your Nene and Dodo. Then we opened gifts in the morning and just spent the day hanging out in pj’s and being together! Mama made reindeer cinnamon rolls and can’t wait until next Christmas so you can eat them too!
The new year came fast and I found myself reflecting on the beginning of 2013 when we found out about you. I can’t believe a year has passed and that I now have a 4 month old! It’s really been an amazing journey and every day we just revel in you and enjoy every minute.
You’ve been doing fairly well in daycare, aside from not napping while there. You’re just too busy! And then you come home and you’re so tired. But you’re still a pretty happy baby, considering. Sometimes you just like to go to bed. We just lay you down when you let us know, and you put yourself to sleep. We are so lucky, but sometimes mama wants to rock you to sleep, and you just won’t have it. Again, it’s the busy factor, any distractions and you’re focused on them, not sleep. You are also getting stubborn when we try and hold you in a laying position by sitting yourself straight up. You still love sitting and having us stand you up.
On January 4, 3 days shy of 4 months, you rolled over! And dad and I were both there to witness it! You were laying on your water mat and rolled from stomach to back. We cheered and hollered, but you haven’t done it again. You just still absolutely HATE being on your stomach! And you’re very, very close to rolling over from back to front. You also had cereal for the first time and while it’s a messy situation, you seem to be taking to it just fine! Sometimes you see the bright spoon and want so badly to grab it!
Mama is still struggling with being away from you while at work. It’s just more than I was prepared for and some days I just miss you to tears. You bring so much joy to our lives.
