Having children is like having a second childhood. Every stage that Lark goes through becomes my favorite stage, because everything is so new exciting. But, with every new stage, you say goodbye to time you can’t get back.
Lark is in an amazing stage right now, albeit extremely difficult at times (can we say ‘terrible twos’)…but she’s learning so many things, talking like crazy, counting, singing her ABC’s and has become her own little (and VERY independent) person! I love experiencing everything from childhood again, like pretend tea parties and hide and seek. Colors are more vivid and life is so alive with fun and sillyness, that you just can’t help but have a ball yourself.
One thing I swore I’d never do before becoming a mom, was that I’d never buy her cheesy character clothes (like light-up Dora shoes. For the record, I’ll still never buy those!). But I’ve since given in because who can say no to her beaming face when she’s calling for Minnie in the middle of the pajama section and pointing to sparkly and pink pj’s?! Enter my older brother and his girlfriend…he’s a big kid himself and they’re always send the best little packages to the kids! This Supergirl outfit came at Christmastime and the absolute delight in Lark’s eyes was something I couldn’t ignore. She was so excited about her ‘dess'(dress) and it’s ruffly, sparkly amazingness (she is her mother’s daughter when it comes to sparkle). And the minute we put it on her, she transformed into the tiniest superhero I had ever seen. Leaping, jumping and flying around with her cape! (see her shenanigans in this vlog)
Childhood is short and fleeting, but it shapes a person for the rest of their life. I’m happy that we have the means to build a stable foundation for our kids, the greatest building block is one of love. Childhood is happiness. And her happiness is my ultimate goal and greatest achievement in this life.
